Approach to Therapy

I have practiced as a naturopathic physician specializing in psychotherapy and mindbody medicine for 30 years. My special interests include: life transitions; grief and loss; coping with health challenges and aging; healing trauma; and the conundrums of depression and anxiety. I assist the therapy process by listening well and being present to felt shifts in emotional states, thus participating in an interactive art of restoration, healing and empowerment.

Psychoemotional healing. Mindbody integration

Memories of felt experience are stored in the body, often beneath conscious memory. As clients tell their stories, I attend to buried elements of stress, trauma, and persistent physical symptoms by working with sensation, emotion, image, gesture, and meaning – as well as talk – to guide the disrupted nervous system to restore natural rhythms.

Within an attuned, resonant therapeutic relationship, I support clients to regulate intense feeling, explore personal signifigance of challenging experience, and discover inner resources for healing. Through gentle interventions, reflection, and dialogue, felt experiences of vitality emerge, and over time, damaging experiences are integrated and transformed into a deep sense of resilience and meaning.
